Jim has been playing guitar and singing for around 35 years, starting in the folk clubs around Bristol, influenced by the likes of Bert Jansch, Brownie McGhee, Blind Blake, Jerry Reed and electric players such as James Burton and BB King.

The ‘70’s and early ‘80’s were spent travelling up and down the country with pub rock bands, Crook Peak & Jacko, cabaret band Footloose and then C&W band Country Blue.

A guitar teacher for nearly 30 years, Jim also runs a number of workshops, including a songwriting and performance workshop which is run for children, adults and special needs in a variety of different situations, and a fingerstyle guitar workshop which is popular at festivals.

Jim has organised various events around the area, including open mics, concerts and festivals – Folk on the Quay, The Flaming Festival and was compare at The Albert Hole. Jim also runs the club tent at Priddy FF.

Several years were spent playing in a duo with singer/fiddle player Mary Yarwood, and the last four years he has been playing with dobro/mando/guitarist Martin Froud, sometimes joined by Pete Hughes on double bass and Nigel Greville on harmonica.

Over the last few years he has shared the stage with some great musicians, including – Kristina Olsen, Hans Theessink & Kent Duchaine among others.

Jim also works solo at festivals & folk & blues clubs.
